As well as a fine array of shops and cafes, Richmond boasts a traditional outdoor market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.

Markets have been taking place in Richmond for centuries and the tradition continues today with a collection of stalls selling fresh produce including fruit and vegetables, fish, eggs and cheese as well as local crafts.

A new addition to the Saturday stalls is Middlemoor Cottage Garden Plants – a recent winner at the town’s annual business awards. Owned by Sharon Stead, the family took the stall after closing its shop near Brokes.

“We have been amazed at how busy it’s been. We had a plant nursery that closed recently so it’s perfect for us to still be able to sell our plants locally.

“Our family had a stall on Richmond market for many years so we are in fact the third generation of our family to do it and we are really enjoying it.”

The number of stalls has increased this summer making it a lovely place to wander, do a bit of relaxed shopping and enjoy the charm of this traditional market town.

Richmond also has a daily indoor market in the Market Hall which has a wide variety of stalls and is home to the town’s Information Centre.
