Did you know that it’s Yorkshire Day on Tuesday 1 August?  A time to celebrate all the things that make our county so great.

Richmond is most definitely one of the shiniest jewels in Yorkshire's crown with its breathtaking setting, fine historic features, abundance of visitor attractions, and welcoming shops and eateries. This is the day that we can loudly blow our own trumpet, and the town is celebrating in style!

There will be an artisan market in the Market Place (9am to 3pm) that will focus on goods made in Yorkshire. It is a great opportunity to support local businesses and buy items made in the local area. So, whether you’re looking for cakes and bakes all lovingly made by hand, jewellery made from glasses sourced at some of the county’s beaches, locally brewed beers, or scenic pictures to decorate your home, come along and take a look. There will also be a variety of street food vendors to keep you fed and watered throughout the day.

Alongside the market, Richmond Town Council has also organised a number of activities for all the family. These will include a Flat Cap Race, Yorkshire Pub & Spoon Race, ‘With T’Whippet Race’ (bring your dog) and 'owd folks race. A number of local pubs, cafes, and restaurants will also be taking part in the biggest Yorkshire Pudding contest.

Together with all the town's local tourist attractions helping tell the story of this wonderful place, it will make a great day out for all ages.
