Richmond land charity celebrates 20th anniversary with community coffee morning

The Richmondshire Landscape Trust is celebrating 20 years of preserving the natural beauty of Richmondshire with a community coffee morning at Richmond Town Hall on Saturday, 9th November from 9:30 am.

Entry is £1.50, including tea or coffee and biscuits. Attendees can enjoy a tombola, home baking stall, and raffle. There will also be a photographic display by trustee Kerry Dinsdale, showcasing the landscapes the Trust protects, with some photos available for purchase. At 11:00 am, a short presentation will highlight the Trust’s achievements and future plans, followed by the cutting of an anniversary cake.

Founded in 2004, the Trust manages 88 acres of public land around Richmond, including Westfields, Nine Acre Field, Jack King’s Wood, and Whitefields. Supported by local residents, the Trust raised £120,000 to purchase the land, and has since focused on conservation efforts like restoring drystone walls, planting trees and wildflower meadows, and preserving historical features like medieval fishponds.

The Trust participates in Countryside Stewardship and has partnered with Buglife to encourage pollinators. Recent work includes planting hundreds of saplings to combat Ash dieback.
