Richmond has a fantastic selection of shops which each year surpass themselves with the creativity of their seasonal displays.

This year's overall winner of Richmond’s annual Easter Window Dressing Competition was Dot's Place at the top of the Market Place and owner Lois Wren is pictured here receiving an engraved trophy from Melanie Sadler of the Black Bull Inn, Moulton, who was called upon to assess the displays.

Certificates were also presented to the best in each of the other three categories:

  • Best Retail Gift display – York House Antiques
  • Best Retail Non-Gift display– The Little Dress Shop
  • Best Non-Retail display– Ottoman Barbers

Paul Harrison, chair of the Original Richmond Business and Tourism Association, praised all who had contributed to the success of this year’s event.

“Many stunning displays have been created.

“Participants have shown a lot of effort to make their windows look appealing for Easter shoppers and visitors. The windows have created a lot of interest and are yet another reason to shop locally.

“Thank you to the organisers of the competition, to the Black Bull at Moulton for sponsoring the event, to head judge Melanie and all those who have taken part.

“The Easter windows competition is a perfect start to a very busy period for Richmond. With the recent launch of this year’s Town Ticket, forthcoming celebrations for the King’s coronation and Richmond Mayfest which returns at the end of this month, there is plenty to attract shoppers and visitors.”
