Run by knowledgeable volunteers, RIC is based in the town’s Victorian-era Market Hall. Our full-service Information Centre is open daily, 10:00–16:00, for friendly advice on attractions, accommodation and events in Richmond Itself and the surrounding 30-mile radius, and in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

We’ve got guidebooks, maps and parking advice. We can point you to a vegan meal or a dog-friendly pub. We can find you a bus to the villages of Crackpot or Booze (really!), or take you on a walking tour of our old town's Historic Centre.

If you’re hiking the Coast-to-Coast Path, you’ll probably take a rest day in Richmond - so pop in to see us, browse our C2C merch and maps, and get your C2C Passport stamped.

If you’re still planning your trip and can’t visit us yet, don’t despair! We’ve put oodles of info into this website for you. Browse at leisure, search our site, or visit our 'lumber room' - a treasure trove of miscellaneous links and local information. You can buy one of our popular local guidebooks online, here. Or just call us for advice on 01748 826468, or email info@richmond.org.

When the District Council closed the town's Tourist Information Centre, several residents felt it was wrong that a gateway to the Dales should be without such a resource.

From a tiny desk at the back of the town library, we grew, moving to the town's Market Hall. Now, with 40 volunteers, we can advise on almost anything local. If we don't know the answer, we know how to find it.

We also publish popular walking guides and books, a quarterly 'What's On', and many public-information leaflets.

We are proud of what we have begun to achieve. Many towns don't have an Information Centre. Of those which do, very few, even the Council-staffed ones, are open 360 days a year. We are!

Please join us, and put your knowledge, enjoyment of meeting people and love of Richmondshire to good use. Some of us volunteer regularly; others fill in when they can. Shifts are short - just two hours - and if you have to miss a few that's fine, because we can always find cover. You do need to be comfortable with computers, but we provide training, and promise friendly support.

Interested? Drop in, chat with a volunteer and leave your details. Or email judith@richmondinfo.net and we'll get back to you.

We hope to welcome you to our friendly team!
